Default What would you do?

Guys, just replaced my factory aluminum rims with a set of chrome
plated Alum. that i bought from Willcox. I now have 4 rims with tires and correct caps sitting in the corner.they are the originals that came with the car[1979].Would you save them, sell them, trade them?
What would they be worth . tires are excellent but old. Thanks

I am doing the same thing soon....new tires and rims and removing the stock 74 wheels. They are going in the basement and will be shrink wrapped and saved for another day.

I would keep them if you have the space to store them.

Part of the decision depends how much room you can spare.

Sell the old wheels,

throw out your alluminum polish,

buy some chrome polish.

As long as you have the old wheels, you will second guess your decision to change every time some purist makes a comment about your beautiful chrome wheels not being as good as your pitted, oxidized, hard to keep polished, alluminum wheels.

OR

Sell your chrome wheels to me, I would LOVE to have them!!!!

I think the key is, is the rest of the car original? (or can be returned to original?) I can't really tell in your avatar if there's modifications. If the motor and paint are right and the car could be easily returned to correct, you absolutely, definitely should keep the original wheels.

The few bucks you get for them won't be worth it.

I would save them....But then, I would not have replaced them to begin with.

I would dismount the tires and store the rims. The tires are not going to be any good after sitting and the rims themselves won't take up that much room. If you get rid of the rims, my guess someday you will wish you had them back. my 2 cents

I agree with keeping the rims. Maybe I am just sentimental, but I hate to see a car lose its original parts. Has nothing to do with preserving value.

I went to TT-D's and Michelin XGT's 3 years ago but still have my rallies and BFG-TA's stacked up in the corner of the garage. I have contemplated selling them but recently have been in market for beater a Chevelle to fix up so will keep them around. i have NOT contemplated putting them back on the Vette as the driving improvement of the new is measurable..at least to me.

Even though my car is NOM and will never be NCRS I have kept all of the original parts I have removed, Manifolds, Valve Covers etc...if the car is ever sold the parts go with
