Not a C3 but rare, so they tell me
I was at the Antique Car Club Museum in Hershey, PA this weekend and I was talking to the guy at the front desk and he tells me they have a rare 1954 Black Corvette. Not knowing much about C1's, I was excited to see it. He tells me, its one of six maybe that were made.
I posted this in C1-C2 forum as well.

I'm mostly just twisting your tail
Actually, in the Corvette lore, I have always found 1954 to be a very intriguing year. They made 3,640 of them, with a short list of 8 or so "options", but every car had every option, so they weren't really options at all in the true sense of the word. Most of them were more or less forced into dealer stock, and the dealers had trouble selling them. Hence, they had made 300 '53s, 3,640 '54s, but only made 700 '55s, so of the really early body style, the '54s are by far the most common.
Anyway, I use this site occasionally:
http://www.web-cars.com/corvette/opt...ptionyear=1954
and I consider it to be reasonably accurate, although there are some things I have found on there that I believe are just plain wrong, so I don't take it as gospel or anything. They list the colors for '54 (with a caveat that they are estimates) as:
3,230 Polo White
300 Pennant Blue
100 Sportsman Red
4 Black
Of course, that adds up to 3,634, leaving us to believe that 6 cars had no color at all. Well, they said they were estimates....

Here's my piece of 55 trivia... while 1955 was the first year for the V-8 (265ci), 6 cars were built with 6 cylinder engines. A beautifully restored example lives in the town I live in. It's been to the major shows across the country but also appears at the local shows, too. It's a beauty!!!!
