Default Value of 69' Coupes missing parts

I am looking at a 69' lemans blue coupe and am pretty interested. I'm trying to compile an estimate of the missing components and thought I could get some forum help. Here goes:

Radio
I'm seeing between $400-600 for an original part, $200 for aftermarket.
Edit: We'll call it $300-400

Rear bumper re-chrome
Edit: $500-800

Replace cracked windshield (professionally installed)
Edit: $300

All dash guages (except one, i think the clock) do not work
$600

Replace rear plastic bin compartments
$200

Replace power steering pump - not a numbers car anyway

Repair 2" spider cracked fiberglass (pass side hood, steming off the headlight cutout)

Replace A/C, at least the missing cutout for A/C controls on the console.

So far a total of $1900-2300 not including the PS pump, A/C, and other maintenance such as brakes, suspension, and fluids. I see the car for the first time on Sunday and this should help get me in the ballpark on an offer. The owner is asking $17k but negotiable.

I will do research on my own and try and update this thread accordingly.

That's quite a laundry list. Whatever you find out, figure 2x that amount. The windshield price is way low. More like $350, if you don't get someone who add's the "vette" mark-up onto the price.

Add brakes to your list. Unless the owner has been through the brake system recently, you can expect to have to do it.

Complete tune up, if she's a driver.

Four wheel alignment.

Here was my list:
Leaking fuel tank - $300
Replaced radiator support frame - $350 + hoses and belts
Complete brake job w/ o-ring calipers and MC - $800
Rear wheel bearings - $60, fairly cheap, but a **tch of a job!
Tune up and fluids - $400 +/-(yep the diff. too!)
Power steering hoses - $60
E-Brake hdwre - $60
That was just the first few months! Seemed every time I drove it at the beginning, something else went wrong. This is why I mentioned figure 2x your estimate.
BTW, last year was suspension & A/C, this year was a motor rebuild.

My guess was ~$200 installed

All dash guages (except one, i think the clock) do not work

Replace rear plastic bin compartments

I've seen working radios from 300-350.
I paid about $350 for a correct, NCRS dated windshield, but Ive had estimates for a non-dated replacement installed for $250.
My front bumper rechrome was $300 and the 2 backs were $500.
The clock isnt working if the rest arent. Repro oil gauges arent very good (Im on my third). Figure $60ish per gauge to fix, and buy a quartz clock and sell yours.
Complete rear comp lid set about $200.

PS pump, A/C dunno. Have to see the body/paint work.

Thanks.

If I have an outstanding question right now it is in regards to the dash. Is it possible for an electronics unit to be out causing all these failures?

Unless the signal is coming from outer space, I doubt it...check your fuse box for a blown fuse.

To put this in perspective, if the car was perfect, and needed nothing, you would be paying anywhere from the mid 20's to low 30's, so for 17k, it's not a bad deal.

69 has no electronics to speak of, defintely not for the gauges, manuel electric meters,
the speed-O and tach are purely mechanical devices. 69VETT

Which engine/trans? Matching or NOM? Rust? Drive or trailer home? Pics? A Hi-Po original engine versus a replacement engine auto can swing the price significantly.

Something else you might want to check is the wiring of the car replacement cost of wiring harness is $1,200.00 plus installing it. Its the little things that eat you up $$$$

couple thing are jumping out to me here...anyone chime in if you think I am wrong, however....

I think you can get a decent 69 radio (68-71?) for under $300......the *****, if they are not there, are readily avaialble through the major suppliers.

Second, are you talking about having your center gauges restored or buying a nice set of originals? If you are going for some working originals, you could most likely pick up a nice set for well under $600.......I was thinking $200 max? Anyway, just thinking outloud, Thanks, john

But I find that Eklers is quicker and easier to use as a price check resource.

I think your on the right track by pricing it out like your are doing.

We did the same thing with our 71. You have to ask youself a few more questions.

Once I replace all these parts will it be a

Nice show car?/ No.
Nice driver?/ Maybe
A 50 footer that I will still want to dump a bunch of money in?/Probably.

Spider crack on the fiberglass once its fixed....it still needs to be painted, can I do it myself? If not I will have to pay someone alot to do it right.

Whats the frame look like, rest of the body & interior?

Once you replace all the things you have listed are your going to be happy with it or....what will it need to get up to snuff? Without seeing the car, with all you've listed it still sound high to me.

Over the summer I stumbled across a really nice 69 coupe L-46 4-spd that looked really original, but the paint wasn't great for 12500.00 but I had two already and no money so I had to pass. I would keep looking!

You mentioned the crack in the fiberglass. Will the whole car need to be painted or just the front clip? If it's the whole car, I would budget $8,000 - $10,000 for a decent paint job.
Also, be sure to check the frame and birdcage for rust.
