Heater Blower Motor Question
Heater went out on my '81. Since prior to that there had been a knocking sound that I assumed was coming from the blower motor (it quit when the heater quit), I started there. I pulled off the power line and put a test light to it, but didn't get anything. Since I have already bought a new blower motor, I plugged that one in with the ground still connected to the old motor and then turned on the heater...still got nothing. First question; should that have worked if it really is just the motor or did I not have a complete circuit that way? Is there a resister or something of the sort? Any advice would be much appreciated.

First you should see if the fuse for the blower is still OK. Next but the blower on high which will bypass the blower resisters. This diagram might help, it's from my 80 shop manual, but I'm assuming yours is similar.
