How did you determine that? There is no one central registry for all VINs worldwide.

The only reason for having a 'rusted-out' birdcage on a non-rusty frame is so someone could sell the car based on the VIN on the birdcage. No one would graft a rusted-out cage onto a good frame for any other reason. If a tree fell on the top and crushed the birdcage, the owner would only allow a replacement cage in reasonable condition to be grafted to his 'good' frame. The PO found his "mark".

ACCORDING TO THIS INFORMATION THE LAST PARTS OF THE SERIAL NUMBER WOULD NOT BE CORRECT. THE LAST PART SHOULD START WITH A 7.

1968-1982 Corvette Identification Serial Numbers

Model Year Starting S/N Ending S/N
1969 194679S700001 194679S738762

Here's a stupid question. What's the vin number on the registration
papers? Didn't anyone notice when you had the car transfered to your name. It has to show up on some computer at motor vehicle office.

Tony.

Tony.

The VIN number on the title I got from the seller, is the same as the VIN number on my new title, which is the same as the VIN number on the windshield frame.

This car is interesting. Have you posted this question to the NCRS? Also ask the vette pros. Such as AL Green I think I might be wrong on the last name and I don't have a Driveline catalog near me to make sure its right, Anyway if his name is wrong somone please correct me.

The font is strange too. Look at the "1" and "3" on your VIN tags as compared to this example.

Different font. No Legs on the 1's and fuller lower 1/2 circle on the 3.

The DMV folks probably asked for the VIN or took it off the previous papers without actually checking the VIN plate on the car.

Did GM have an assembly plant (G) in Framingham?

Good luck CV. Clearing this up with the DMV could be a real nightmare.

Looks to me as if someone changed the second digit from a 3 to a 9...Presto from Chevelle to a Corvette.

Did you figure out what the correct VIN is, and whether it is 'clean'? Tread carefully, ref PMs.

wow, if you have any close friends in law enforcement, I would have them run the vin from the engine/frame to see if it comes back clean. There is no way that vin plate is correct for that car. Good luck, I don't envy your position with this discovery.

And forgot the "7" as the car line series code.

That's not the answer.

13437 is a 2 dr. Chevelle 300. But the series starts with a 3

134379G300001

Your VIN sequence begins with a 1 and it should be a 7 for Corvette.

1. Wrong Assembly Plant. "G" S
2. Wrong Vin sequence starting number "1" 7

Whats the build date on the trim tag?
