Aux Fan Help!!

Hello again .. ok installed the dual exhaust system from Corvette Central ,all went well easy install, sounds great! Now problem #2 (of many to come) saw two heavy gauge wires coming out of fan shroud OPENLY TWISTED to wires going to harness,thinking fuse or link had to have been shorted.....did i mention that Bubba gave me a really good deal on this '81 LOL,put power to the wires and aux fan came on ... (taped and sealed wires to harness)cant tell if it comes on when car is running, checked drivers side of block and temp sensor in connected and wired. Question is how can I tell if fan comes on when connected to harness?

Didn't the aux fan only come on with the AC and perhaps really high blistering temps

The temp switch is 238 degrees on.
