St. Louis pilot program 7/21/80 - 12/23/80 used enamel. 79 units were painted. Mine was painted in the shuttered Caprice paint booth. As far as I know, all were painted in the Caprice booth!

I bought a Bowling Green 4 speed Coupe in August. It has a new Pace Performance blacked out 350/330, beautiful Rally Wheels with Spinners, Gymkana Suspension and Eckler true quad straight pipes. It was originally blue but has been repainted to GM Medium Garnet Metallic. New black leather. It sounds like a Corvette and runs like the 69 I had many years ago. I love it. The wife is scared of it.

Interesting stuff! Curious...were all of those pilot two-tone cars painted in the same color combinations that were ultimately offered in 1981, or were there any test cars done in different color combos? If so, which other ones did they try?
