Those are for a 265 V-8 block. The bolt pattern is different than 283/327/350 SB Chevy engines.

Actually, they're 265 or 283. All small block Chevy engines used the staggered hole valve covers from 55 to 59, 55-56 were 265s and 57-59 were 283s. The covers pictured were used on all optional Corvette engines from 56 to 59. Base motors (and passenger cars) used painted steel covers.
