Default '76 Blower Motor

I am working on my friends 76 and for the life of my cannot figure out if this is normal or not.

The blower motor will run on low as soon as the inigtion is turned on. The speed switch is in the low position, the AC is set to off. I know the speed switch works because if I put the controls to AC normal or heat, I can adjust the temperature.

Is the always on normal.

Yes, it's normal. For some model years, the fan comes on low at start up.

It's been two years since my '76 was in one piece, but I thought it had an 'Off' position for the blower motor. It's possible to stop the motor completely, even with the ignition on. I can't remember whether it's the small silver fan speed switch that does this or the main AC wheel controls.

I believe you had to have the large wheel in off and the blower switch in off to stop the motor when the car was running.

My 75 will stop the blower when I put the left control wheel to the stop position regardless of the blower switch position.
