From: the land of a never ending frame-off resto-mod. May Visa have mercy on my soul.
Here are a few pics of my 80. I have owned it since new and decided to do a body off rest-mod. Getting closer to finish if I just can stay healthy to do it. Was to be a 2 year project and now into year 5. Sigh.
I need to finish interior electrical, doors, install new interior and paint.
Nice car I like the 80`s front and rear
Why did you not take off the mirrors before paint?
It's just a daily driver. I figure the only part on the body that didn't get painted was a spot the size of two and a half quarters on each door. The mirrors themselves were covered well. (and they match the body color perfect without having to hang them up by the rafters to paint) That was good enough for me at the time. It's not show quality, but I would be very upset if someone scratched it in a parking lot if I spent three months getting the car absolutely perfect. This is a quicky job by my standards.
I spent six months doing a black lacquer color change on a '69 Chevelle. It was PERFECT. I spent well over 1,000 hours in body work and laid down 14 coats of lacquer. I blocked every coat of primer (lost count at around 20 coats) and blocked every one of the 14 coats of color. Then hand rubbed the car to soaking wet, three foot deep perfection. Two things happened when I was done. My now ex-wife didn't give a crap about the work I put into it and treated it like a Chevette, and I realized I would NEVER do all that again unless it was MY car. ....and even then, it would have to be a pretty darn special car to me. The 'Vette just isn't that car. At least this one isn't. Maybe some day I'll find a chrome shark that speaks to me.
