Default Torq Thrust II - Pics to Share on Car?

Hey guys

I am looking to put a set of these on my car, but I can't decide on the 15's or the 17's.

My car is stock ride height and I dont want to change that since I am putting side pipes on.

The 17's look like they leave a lot of open space in the rear, I like the way the 15's allow for more rubber to fill up the wheel well space.

Can any of you guys post pics of your 15's or 16's on a stock height car for me to check out? Maybe tell me the size of rubber and wheel to?

Thanks and I look forward to seeing what you got!

I have the 17's on mine - they do leave a bit more space if you stay with shorter rubber to keep stock tire height.

I like the way the 17's look a lot better than 15's on the C3's. The rims look quite a bit larger in comparison. I have gotten a ton of compliments on mine from people at car shows or just out driving around.

245/45/17s all around - Im going to go with a wider tire in the back next time though.. It needs a bit more width.

Car is stock height in the rear and lowered in the front just a bit in that pic.

You need a 255/50R17 tire to match stock height. Stock is 27" tall. A 245/45R17 is over 1" smaller in diameter.

Try this calculator:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Stock size would be a 225/70R15 or 255/60R15.

Default what does tire size have to do with sidepipes?

I'm wondering what the size of the tire has to do with side pipes? I Have 235/60/15 fronts 275/60/15 rear and side pipes. If I went with 16 or 17 wheels what would be the correct tire sizes to avoid any problems.
thanks

Well, if you go with a smaller diameter tire you'll certainly lose ground clearance, but I would be more concerned with the RPM changes resulting from a drastic increase/decrease in diameter and the effect on your speedo, odometer and rotating bits under hood. Fuel consumption and performance can take a hit too if you get crazy enough.

You should probably shoot for a tire diameter that most closely replicates what's supposed to be on there regardless of rim size.

I just put new tires and rims on mine and went with the 255/60 - 15s on Rally rims and love the look. The 70 series stockers (and those terrible '80 aluminum rims) look like bicycle tires by comparison.

I like the look of the bigger sidewall and smaller rim myself, but some of the cars pictured here look great, especially Brandywine's...and I have always loved Jughead's '70.
