Why would anyone on this forum believe that Corvette Enthusiast Magazine is somehow now the accurate source for Corvette values?
As you know Current values in the collector car market (not just Corvettes) are driven by many inputs. Published price guides are just one of those resources. They are no more a definitive source than this forum is for setting the market.
Please share with us the methods you use to determine the actual value of the Corvettes that you buy. That would be excellent information for those members here who are considering the purchase or sale of a C3.
The value of any used car is only as high as somebody else is willing to pay for it. However, should nobody desire to sell their car for that price it tends to increase in value.......so, stop selling Corvettes and the prices will all go up because the supply will fall well short of demand.
That chart just shows how overpriced chrome bumpers where a couple years ago.
Later model c3's are not down much at all and the stated prices in the article are probably higher than actual market value anyway. I'd take $20K for my '79 L82 any day.
No matter what, it's hard to argue that market prices have been declining for classic cars in the last couple years especially at the high end. Guys like me that have a more average car ...and guys that have early C4's probably haven't seen as much depreciation. I was looking at Firebird and T/A prices and they've taken a steep dive as well.
