Last weekend when my wipers decided to stop working while driving through the reminents Hurricane Alex...

Seems like there will ALWAYS be something on these old cars....unless they have been fully restored with all new stuff.....anything original is likely to go.....My car aside from the engine/tranny is 100% original.....vac hoses, wiring, everything....I haven't had a lot of problems but my headlights and wipers are always working then not....usually not at the most inopportune times. Ofcourse the brakes are always a PITA to keep going and even with all new seals/weatherstripping....she still leaks like a sieve in hard rain... Gotta love it.

Most people that have absolutely no problems what so ever are the ones that cruise to the car show on sat night a few times a month and put 1000 miles a year on their car...

Put some Rain X and you might not need to use your wipers.

just go faster but yes that rain x is awesome stuff LS WON

but to give my opinion on the original question i think the c3 is just as reliable if not more than any other car built in 68-82.

my 81 left me starnded just once in 10 years and that was a wheel bearing which could have happened on any car.

It's the best body style and known as the Corvette.

If one of them were to crap out today, does the 37 years of faithful past service suddenly make the car 'unreliable'?

Having said that- look at the number of people who come to this site and moan about headlights that won't go up/down, wheel bearings that are noisy, calipers that leak etc, etc. The vast majority when put on a lift look like they haven't been attended to in decades.
