Fan Shroud and Fan Blades
Hi,
I have a couple of questions.
How could I determine if my 76 corvette had an early or late Fan Shroud? And what is the difference from the Fan. 7 Blades 17.5 and 18.5 Inch 350 W/Air Conditioner? Does they all fit my 76 corvette and which is the best one to decrease the high temperature?
Thanks,
Abdull

The fan must be sized to the shroud opening. When centered to the shroud, there should be about 3/4" [approx. 19mm] clearance at the tips of the blades. If you have a larger clearance, you need a larger fan (or a smaller shroud).
In general, the size of the fan is not THE critical factor to overheating. It is more likely due to collected deposits on the inside of the radiator preventing good heat transfer, missing shroud seals causing loss of airflow through radiator, defective radiator cap not allowing correct pressure, collapsing [suction-side] radiator hose, old/weak coolant without adequate antifreeze.
