My comment was "talented, but otherwise ordinary, people..". Off stage, Jimmy [he was "Jimi" when on stage] Hendrix was a very soft spoken and shy person. When he didn't have a guitar with him (which was almost always) he was pleasant to be around, but not very outgoing. Elvis was much the same, I hear.

Thank you brother. No one is perfect. Those that are quick to judge Jimi (or anyone else for that matter) need to look in the mirror. If you're honest, you'll see imperfections too. Wish I knew if any of the C3's he owned are still out there somewhere...now that would be a find!

FYI, alcoholism and other drug addictions have nothing to do with intelligence. They are diseases. Not only that, there is substantial evidence that the disease is congenital...

Seriously though, drugs and alcohol are often used as coping mechanisms. Society may think that being a rock star is a glamorous life, but it can be very lonely. Many stars are surrounded by disingenuous people that all want a piece of fame. The temptations can be overwhelming. Super egoes think they are stronger and better than the temptations of drugs and alcohol. But the underlying fragile egoes can wind up failing the person.
Enough rock star psychology.
Jimi and Corvettes is cool. Prince and Corvettes... Aaaaargh!
