Beautiful painting! If it's depicting Jimi in the C3 he owned, It's the wrong color. The 1969 Vette that Jimi owned was Cortez Silver. There was a music video on YouTube with him driving it and a pic of him sitting in it in the book "Jimi Hendrix-Electric Gypsy" on page 304.
P.S: I'm sure he probably owned more than one. Alledgedly Jimi's driving sucked and he wrecked alot of cars.

From the same era and died much the same way Janis Joplin who had the two big hits: Me and My Bobby McGee and Mercedes Benz and sang or sometimes yelled, with a boozy whisky voice style owned a Porsche....since it was San Fran. and the age of Flower power it had all kinds of flowers painted on what we'd thing of as a Porsche 911! Anyone seen the Porsche Panamera four door sedans that sell for $80,000 and up and with the V8 can hit 196? Seven speed trannies, variable valve cam timing which is becoming more common.

I've never seen the print, but Jimi Hendrix owned a blue 68 coupe.
I cannot comment on his driving skills, but I am sure they were commensurate with the level of chemicals in his blood stream at any given time.

Jimi's Corvettes
Jimi owned a 68 that he wrecked. Believe it was purchased in Cleveland where he happened to be on tour. The 69 was a 427/390 automatic. I have silent film of him driving it. After his death it was purchased by Manny's Music in New York(where jimi purchased some of his guitars) It was offered for sale for 1800 but was stolen before it could be sold. I have a copy of the registation somewhere in my Hendrix collection and a copy of a parking ticket. He would just park it anywhere and had his management deal with the details.

It's the ying and yang of life, the good with the bad. The extremely talented or genious people are often emotionally cursed inside themselves. Look through history. It has always been that way.

Jimi's Corvettes
I was just passing on info on Jimi's Corvettes which the key word is "Corvettes", not his personal life. Just for the record, in any bios on him there is not one person who ever saw him use heroin. The autopsy also proved that.

Way back in '70, I had an opportunity to hear some tracks Jimi had done a few weeks before his untimely demise. Far as I know, they were never released. Interestingly, they were WAY different musically than anything we'd heard him do before. Funk; blues - toned down with a jazzy feel. Great stuff. Too bad he didn't live; there was a lot more going on with his artistry than the world had a chance to experience.
Great painting of him & his 'Vette, BTW
Dan G> (life long gtarist - jazz/archtop, etc etc.

The story was that he asked the gal he was staying with for something to help him sleep. And she gave him something that was many times stronger than he had taken before. I don't know if that is true or not; but we sure hear that "theme" from lots of creative folks who are getting pulled in many directions at the same time: Howard Hughes, Marilyn Monroe, Hendrix, Joplin, countless musicians, Michael Jackson, Elvis....
Society expects too much from most of these talented, but otherwise ordinary, people. Most of them can't cope with it. Not an excuse...just a fact.
