Don't forget to look for the vin on the frame before you start blasting away and painting. Might even protect that area.

LOLOL Gary you better sit her down and explain this car thing to her, and tell her you will take her on a nice holiday when its done.

What areas should i inspect for problems in the interior of my car? By that, I mean what are the usual problem areas? The frame appears to be in pretty good shape. No major rust anywhere visible, so I feel fortunate there.

Pictures are coming once I get time to set it up.

Thanks,
Gary

Below is the unwelcome surprises I was kinda expecting. Not crazy about the frame damage, but was planning to send the frame out anyway. Anyone have any thoughts about these pics and what is a prudent course of action?

I'll be watching. Love these threads. As far as the rust issues, I'm not an expert. The rust on the windshield area (birdcage) is very common. T-Tops leak. Check for other threads on these. There have been many guys who have fixed them. Body mounts are another big spot for rust. Best of luck!

Broke the welding machine out this week and built a body stand for the body and started removing the front clip. I will put up plcs soon. This project keeps growing........not drowning yet, but I'm definitely in deepwater.

as i said previously, built a frame for the body to sit on, but it was a serious pain to actually get the body on the frame. Here is a pic:

Got the front clip off. Used a heat gun, scrapper and a pry bar. It came off pretty easily....have a feeling going back on will be the problem. Put the wife to work on this one. Pics:

It looks like part of the bonding area came off with the clip. I think it was rivoted on, any tips on putting it back?

Can someone please tell me what this is for?

Well, that is all for now. My wife said she was beginning to feel like she might never drive her car again.....she may be right Gonna try to get the frame to a local chevy dealer tomorrow to make sure all the dimension are true. Then i'm going to get the tranny and the engine out to be checked.

Any recommendations on servicing the trailing arms? Should I buy rebuilt or send mine out for rebuild?

Take care,
Gary

just brought the frame back from my paint shop and it looks great. I will post some pics as soon as i get them downloaded from the camera. It is hard to believe the difference a little weld repair and blast/paint can make....looking at the above pics takes me back to where I started from.

Hey i have a question. How did you get the front nose off the car? mine stayed attached to the body, i didnt mess with the bird cage. there wasnt any rust to worry about in the kick panel area.

Default more pics and a repair question

the above pics are after blast and paint. went with an epoxy primer and urethane finish.

replaced the old tank because it was leaking

blasted and painted the front bumper extension

I would appreciate some help with repair the urethane bumper.
Over all things have been progressing with the car, but it has been slow. With the weather cooling down, I plan on getting back to the project more often.

Default more pics

Here are some more pics of what is going on with the car. Progress has slowed because I haven't had much time to work on the car, but I'm getting close to putting the body back on the frame.

I replaced on the powering steering lines and brake lines.

well, that is all there is to update at this point.....the journey continues!
