Default Radiator Removal

So I have to remove my radiator. Years ago I had it repaired but it's leaking again. I do rememeber it being a pain in the rear, but I can't remember the best way to remove it. Does it remove from the top or bottom? My car is a '72, 4sp, no air.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You remove it from the top. But, it's a 'piece of work' to do with the body on the car. It is best that you have an extra set of hand to do this job. And, it is easier if you remove the hood first so that you have unrestricted access. Mark the locations of the hood bolts so that you can reinstall it easily.

Hi,
I think it's a good idea to cut a piece of cardboard to size and tape it to the front and back of the core. This will help protect it while you pull it out and put it back in.
Good Luck!

Alan

I seem to remember having a heck of a time getting the fan shroud/rad past the upper control arm bolts.
After I removed the hood I had unbolted the rad support to the point i could tilt t 90 degrees...still a pain in the rear.

Just no room by that control arm bolt...
