18 inch factory looking C3 Aluminum wheels
Hey guys... was checking out wheels for my C3, I love the look of an 18 wheel on our car's but also love the factory aluminum wheel that came on the car, Then i saw T RUSH's avatar and I was like MAN I love that look. Was thinking, what if I got someone to build 18 inch factory looking wheels would anyone be interested in buying some? Or does anyone know anyone that makes Aluminum wheels?

I've been wanting to get a larger diameter version of the C3 aluminum wheels for years, but I've never seen any custom wheel manufacturer that I trust to make trackworthy wheels. For light duty street use I'm content with my 15 inch wheels.

hmmm this: I have that image(which is alittle higher rez than my avatar) uploaded in "My Corvette Photos"
....its a DucK Designs image
that I did some quick photoshop'n to and put the hood back to stock, removed the side pipes...and then used actual photos of the sport mirrors and YJ8/N90 option Corvette aluminium wheels to add those
I was thinking that would be how I'd finish out my car(which it originally was #14 Silver Mist with steel rally wheels) and change it to #17 Corvette Gray as I liked the look of this 74
...so I bought a set of YJ8 wheels, and even found a parts car with a complete " Saddle" color(tan?) interior in good shape like that car has to replace my black one
but now I'm thinking I might go #80 Corvette Orange offered that year
or back to its silver
either color with C4 ZR-1 wheels
anyway, I might redo my avatar with orange or silver paint and the wheels to 17"(maybe 18"x9.5" in back) ZR-1 style so I can look at it like that
....so if anyone wants my old avatar, they are welcome to it

oh, but I did see some really big YJ8 (or later optioned as N90) wheels in a photo once, they must have been huge, like 20" or something, but they were poorly redesigned(IMHO) and looked horrible....but I did hear about someone having some billet ones carved out at about $4000 or something, but they said they were 18" and looked great
..however...my avatar is a cartoon...and a real car, even with bigger wheels, will never look like that

Call Year one. They make Trans Am rims in 17 up to 20". If anyone knows who can do it they would. There reproductions are exactly like factory in the 17 and 18". 20" are different but still look good

Never seen a plus size version of the aluminum wheel, but Wheel Vintiques makes a billet rally wheel...

The way those were done is that they started out with stock 15" wheels, cut the centers out and fitted them first into a 16" barrel, then 17" and the 18" that's why you can see the step design in the wheel barrel...

I don't think you can buy them. You may be able to have them made doing it the same way as stated above. "Cut the centers out and fitted them first into a 16" barrel, then 17" and the 18" that's why you can see the step design in the wheel barrel...". You can ask these guys if they can do it. http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/ I know they turned a set of Vintage Wheel Works 17s into 18s for a forum member here. I bet it will be pricey though.

MY philosophy is that spending THAT kind of money on a set of wheels, which are basically considered an expendable item on ANY street driven vehicle.....is a stone waste of money....
bad enough on the tire upcharge.....but if you got money to toss....WTH, not my car.....
but I gotta admit, I'd do those 18? rims above, looking like stock C3 rims in a nanosecond, for a decent price....but THAT ain't happening due to demand....that is obvious....
I don't like the modded up stepped design, just a larger center mass on the bigger dia. rim....simple and clean....

During life you can waste money every day, but when putting a set of wheels on a car that makes you happy when driven is not a waste in my book, Plus you only live once so why not do what makes you happy? If driving a car across town or cruising on Fri or Sat makes you feel good you should do it... Some people think of a car as something that can get them from point A to B and back to A, Guys that has corvettes are not those guys! Since we've been a kid all we could think of was owning a Corvette one day! Well for most of us our day has came and that's why we spend crazy amounts of money on the cars we love!

If logic was all it was about the Corvette would never have existed. I'd go for it if that's the look you're after.
As I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in seeing how the whole car looks with those stock centered 18's, have any long shots of it?

Is it just me our do the wheels not look proportionate? Maybe it's the style and they are too large. Could be something to do with how it was scaled up from the 15"wheel.
Now the steppped up 15" dont look bad.....I've come across it before but are there any full car pictures out there?
