when I got this car the PO had two 6 X 9 speakers laying around the back not mounted, obviously not factory. I am about to do the seats I figured while I have them out I would install some sound also.
Where are the speakers for the front and rear speakers mounted and what size are they. Additionally, would someone direct me to the vendor that sell the vintage radio with modern features. thank you
Just get yourself a set of 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust pipes, a pair of Walker Turbo Mufflers and you'll have all you need.
I never turn the radio on.
Factory speakers were a pair of 4x6 mounted in the upper dash panel. There were no rear speakers from the factory for 72.
Aftermarket stereo choice is up to you but I would caution against any unit which would require cutting the center cluster bezel. The aftermarket providers carry modern stereos which will fit the stock bezel.
If you intend to have the car judged, you will want a stock Corvette stereo to avoid a points deduction.
I'll second that on not cutting a perfectly good radio/gauge bezel.....if the vintage style units don't have the features you want, there are bezels available made for the DIN style units.....just wish they made them for 68's
