Go to the dollar store and get a bottle of "AWESOME" then just spray the tire let sit 1 minute and rinse. This stuff works GREAT on ALL OIL stains and degreases an engine compartment totally!! I use it on everything. My sneakers, the house, stains on driveway, stains on carpet, even on a shirt.

I've tried AJAX and Comet. They don't do the job that Spray-Nine
does. Spritz it on the entire tire and let it sit for a min. Spritz some on a brush and then rub. Then power wash everything off. I've got a power wash nozzel that'll tear wood off a deck. I stand back about 10' and REALLY give it a clean. My tires always look like brand new. I'm not a big fan of putting anything on them. The tires always collect dust too fast or they look really greasy.

I hate white letters on tires. Though they go well with gold chains, polyester leisure suits and spandex.
uhh- hate to point this out, but all those go well with C3's. 'twas the period.

Hi Doug,
I'm thinking of the original Firestone and Goodyear RWL tires. To my eye they look pretty nice on a restored car.
After the original Firestones wore out I put a set of blackwalls on and ran them for years. They change the look of the car to quite a degree.
Now, PO-2s.....!?!?
Regards,
Alan

Grew up on a car lot, blue zep cleaner and grill type wire brush, even the oldest $hittiest tires of the seventies cleaned up nice. Youngest kid there so I had to clean allllll the Fn tires and wheel wells, and scrape off the tar on the rocker moldings with kerosene and a razor. LOL your bringing back long repressed memories.
But wesleys and stif plastic brush should do also.

I use a 3M green scouring pad on my white letters. I spray on the wheel treatment, hit the white letters with a scouring pad and wipe off the faces with a clean rag. They come out beautifully. The whiteners and the white pencils come out looking too white. Sort of phony. A friend of mine uses a light touch of 400 grit wet/dry sand paper. He swears by it and wins lots of shows with both of his cars.
