Was looking for some advice on the purchase of brackets for a front clip change.
I'm putting a 69 clip on my 69 which had an 80's clip on when i purchased her.
So far i've picked up most of the external pieces like the Clip, grills, lights, chrome mouldings, guards etc,
Doesnt have to be correct in any way, just as long as it stays on the car!
Also my car seems to have an eighties front cross member but i'm not sure if these should be on a '69: Its a large circular bar that runs pretty much below the headlights about 8 inches in diameter
thanks

What type of brackets? Do you have the 69 assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM will show you how the stock front end was mounted. the parts required, and the original GM part numbers.

Sounds like you are describing the stock 80-82 front bumper support. It's a fairly good sized chuck of metal, but it is not 8" in diameter.
If your 80 clip included the headlight vacuum reservoir, that's under the nose and looks like a 3 lb. coffee can painted black.
Purchase the 69 assembly instruction manual (AIM). The AIM will help you a lot since it will show you everything which is supposed to be on your 69, but may be missing due to the 80-82 front clip. The AIM lists the original parts and their part numbers; shows how things were assembled; has notes about correct installation, etc. It is an extremely valuable tool when restoring these cars.
You could be looking through the AIM and studying the diagrams on those days when you cannot get to your car.
Hi b,
The frame extensions and bumper brace bolted to the frame with 3 bolts on each side needs to be take off. Then you'll start to but the 69 extensions, front cross member, center bumper support, bumper brackets, and much, much more in place.
The AIM will be your constant companion while you do this.
It will be a LOAD of work and $$$; but your 69 will thank you when you're finished.

Alan
Hi B,
It depends on whether the core support will bolt up to the apron re-inforcements in the 69 front clip, and the front cross-member that bolts to the frame extensions.
The core support must bolt up properly since it really ties the front of the clip together.

Alan
