Randy , where does A go and what does the loose end look like ?
...................
Lets talk about B in your pic. B is the thermal fuse and its probably blown.Try this to start.
Unplug B from the connector
start the engine and turn the AC on
in the connect there should be 2 dk green wires
use a paper clip and jumper the 2 dk green wires momentarily to see if comp kicks on,pull clip out if comp comes on
(hopefully the wires are plugged in at the comp)

If the compressor gets over 140° then it will trip that wire to ground and blow the thermal limiter (like a fusable link) at the 3 prong connecter .

In short, that circuit must be good to have power to the a6 clutch.
Hope that makes sense to you.
Roger - The only connector on the back of the compressor is the black wire coming from the thermal fuse. It attaches through a molded in black boot. I'm not seeing where the loose wire ("A") goes to.

Noonie - I pulled the thermal fuse and tried the paperclip idea without success, possibly because of the loose wire. I also pulled the thermal fuse and am getting 8.8 ohms across it. Is that the correct spec?

Now you gotta get your test light out. The center dk green wire in the thermal fuse connector needs to be hot when the AC is on.

I'm sure I can find it on the diagram.
What color is the A wire ? It appears to be dk green but changes to black ?The end that is connected, what is it connected to ? Does it go to the thermal fuse connector ?

I've uploaded a new pic with a wider view.

The wire is green on both side of the "A" connector. To the left of the connector, there is 2 inches of green wire exposed that comes out of the wiring harness at "B". This harness runs in back of the distributor cap, by the windshield wiper spritzer pump ("C"). There is 2 feet of green wire ("D"), on the right side of the connector "A". This is the loose end, and just laying there in the picture. I see no connectors within the 2 feet. Maybe more of the wire is gone, who knows. "E" is the thermal fuse.

The loose one appears to be TCS wiring.
........................................ .....................
Lets move beyond the mystery wire.
Do you know where the 2 wire ambient sensor is on the evaporator case ?
If you can find that, use your test light to see if either wire is hot with AC on.

I believe I found the sensor, orange (top) and green wires. I don't have a test light, used my multi-meter. With the ignition in the on position, I tested between the orange wire and a ground and got 10.88 volts. The blower motor was on at the time. With the car running, the reading was 14.56 volts.

Now you gotta get your test light out. The center dk green wire in the thermal fuse connector needs to be hot when the AC is on..
Using my multimeter in the same fasion above, I get no reading on the thermal fuse. What would be the next next thing to check? Roger, thanks for your input.
