Default Looking for a garage lift that is....

No wider then 9' or 108"
Able to park another Vette underneath (while another car is on hoist), drive thru clearance of around 7' or 84".
Picks up from the frame and not tire.
Can be mounted will ceiling height of garage at 10' 6" or 126".

And hopefully less then $5000.00.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Stephen:

I already saw the thread and that lift won't work as it's too wide and it's a 4 post lift which lifts the car from the tires. I'm looking for the opposite, more narrow and a two post lift. Those lifts will take up too much space and I'm unable to for eg...... remove a body from a frame since it's more of a drive on lift.

The specs you want are vrey small. I have one of the smaller 2 post lifts out there and it is bigger than wha tyou have listed. I can park another car under neath easily though. My dimensions are
Bottom plate width is 135 inches
Column width is 125 inches
Height is 111 inches
Drive through is 101 inches.

Thanks for the info Gordonm.

Still a bit too wide for what I'm looking for, my wife needs more on her side of the garage and at 125" plus what ever distant away from the wall would only leave her around 85" to park her car and that's just too close.

What about in ground garage hoist, this way I can open the door when the car is on the lift. Are there any available in the sizing I'm looking for? I understand they'd be more expensive but are they available?

Most of the major manufacturers make in ground lifts that are installed as narrow as you want them.

Here is a really slick one, but probably not for you

I really appreciate all the links but after spending hours reading through all the material, so far none have met my requirements. I hope I'm not wasting everyone's time but I'm not looking for a two post lift, they're are many of them available and the links prove that. I'm looking for one that meet these requirements below:

It would seem that in ground would suit my needs the best but I can't even find one of those that I can park another car underneath.

And hopefully less then $5000.00.

I've not run into anything that I can't do with my four-post lift (except park an SUV under it), and I'm in a single-car bay with a 9-foot ceiling...I use a trolley jack and jack stands on the lift ramps when I need to hang the wheels, but there are frame jacks available that lift both side of the frame at once; you would need 2 of them but you could approximate the functionality of a 2 post lift--and still be able to open your doors and park a Vette underneath--for a little more than $3 grand.

I am lost there. You want it picked up from the frame, so that eliminates any platform or track lifts that are common in a four post lift system. And you don't want a two post lift that lifts from the frame, so the only thing I can think of is four individual portable lifts or some crazy engineering with a boat lift. Or you could use the four post lift that picks it up by the wheels and buy adapter in the center of the lift to lift the car's frame like Rally68 said.

If you call BendPak, they can probably adjust one of their low ceiling lifts to fit. They do custom lifts.

Would you be able to remove the body off the frame as in a body off resto with your lift? That was going to be my first project?

If I gave you the wrong message I'm sorry, I don't mind a two post lift that lifts from the frame.....I'm ok with that.

No, that's a good point; I couldn't lift it in the way that you could with a 2 post lift. I could, however, strap the body to the runways (car below the lift) and lift it far enough to roll the chassis out from under and roll in a body dolly...then the dolly goes on the lift, and you can either leave it up there or hang it from the ceiling and put the rolling chassis on the lift--either way, you're back to where you'd be with a 2-post lift. (I was toying with the idea of taking the body off after I got my lift; I'm over it!). Granted, it would be a bit of a hassle, but once you're done with the body-off IMHO you'll be happier with a drive-on lift. Sounds like based on your size restrictions you may not have a choice

I like the fact that a two post lift gives you more workable space underneath the car as well there is less work in removing tires etc. Either way it doesn't appear that any lift will meet my needs so as it stands now it doesn't look as though I'm getting one.

Thanks for the reply Rally.

This is the one I have my eye on:

http://www.directlift.com/HR8000-Two...ift-P51C8.aspx

From direct lift, 9 ft 3in in height.

I am also a fan of the 2 post lift. I'm more worried about side to side space.

Unfortunately my problem with that lift is the width, it won't work for me.

Specifications:

•Lifting Capacity 8,000 lbs.
•Overall Height 111" (9' 3")
•Overall Width 135" (11' 3")
•Width Between Columns 111" (9' 3")
•Power Unit 2HP, 220 Volt, Single Phase
•Max Lift Height w/ truck adapters 79" (6' 7")
•Column Size (7" x 11")

have you seen this one
it has a corvette on it in the picture and the width could be what you want as to where you secure it to the floor
im not sure if it is tall enough to park under 40" but they make one thats taller maybe they could retro fit it with the higher lift columns for you
it wont hurt to call and ask them

Well guy, I appreciate all the time you spent trying to help me find something but I think I won't be able to find what I need. I thought with it being a two car garage....albeit small.......that I would be able to find something.

Looks like we'll have to pay for winter storage this year, although I was hoping to put the money towards a lift and part both Vettes in the garage, one on top the other below the hoist.

Again, thanks for trying.
