If this is the first time you have seen this, you need to be a little more observant. I have not seen a set of original LT-1 covers that did not have the cut outs. I have seen lots of aftermarket covers without the cut-outs though. (Not that I have seen every LT-1 cover. )

To the best of my knowledge, all of the GM LT-1/L-82 aluminum covers, have the cut outs.

Hello, I know LT1 and L82 have intake reliefs have cut outs on the valve covers, but what I am saying is I have a set that both reliefs are 3 inches. I have a set of L82s and they have a 5 inch and a three inch relief the ones an E
bay are also 5 inch and 3 inch. I cant recall seeing one that were both were 3 inch only. Just found this info below in the archieves talking about the 3 inch releifs. Ine also has the twist stle oil cap, not the plug. Al
The NCRS manual states "1970-1972 LT1 and 1970 350hp engines have ribbed cast aluminum valve covers with PCV valve provision in both covers.the oil fill cap is on the driver's side and the passenger side cover has a crossed flag emblem where the oil fill hole should be.Original covers have no opening for oil fill on the passenger side and have two 3 inch long slots machined on the inboard edge to clear the intake manifold runners"

Now I see your point. Guess I should be a bit more observant. I just went out and looked at mime. One is 3 and 3 and the other with the screw in oil fill is 3 and 5. Don't know the numbers on them, and they are not original to the car.

Hi,
I have a set bought over the counter in 71 with/for a rubber push-in oil cap. Both covers have 2- 3" relief cuts.
Regards,
Alan
