Hello guys,

Yep purchased a basket case Vette this afternoon. It's a 77 that has been sitting for 10 years. It's almost complete minus the top of engine walked off some time back, L-48 according to vin.

Pick it up on Monday. First stop will be at the safe and lock guys to have replacement keys cut for it.

Will be doing ALL the work myself. I have a little wrench experience and look forward to the drawn out process of getting it back on the road. At the end of finsihing the 944 basket case I got last year. Local Corvette club has their annual show in August, the goal is to drive this car to the show next year.

So wanted to intro myself and see if anyone has any advice for me. Yes pics will be posted Monday when I go back to pick it up.

August sounds like a pretty fast time frame, unless you're talking of having it on the road, but not necessarily complete.

Maybe he doesn't know what he's in for, or it's not that bad of a basket case

Thanks to all for the kind words of welcome.

Oh after the year I have had with the Porsche 944 I can imagine what I am in for trust me.

I know there will be some head banging moments ahead but it's part of the fun for me.

And I litterally mean being able to drive the car to the show in August. Not being ready to SHOW the car in August. It will never be a concourse queen. I just want it to be a cool Friday driver.

Thanks again, advice welcome.

Ok, will have to search to see what AIM is but will take your word for it. I am betting it is the shop manual. Which reminds me, there is a digital copy of the 944 online free to download....is there one hidden around somewhere for the C3? If so could somebody PM me the link? Last thing I want to do is rely on Haynes or Chilton for information.

In the meantime, congrats on buying the c3. They are fun. How about posting before and after photos of the Porsched 944 in the meantime? My brother in law had one he let me drive in Calif. once....cornered pretty well as I recall but was way smaller for my feet to fit in the footwell to drive. Had to drive it barefoot!

The foot well is small. Mine's a 5-speed (of course), I am 6'3" and my combat boot size is 13. When I am in those boots I sometimes have to be careful, when wearing racing boots no problems. Will post some pics tonight of the 944 if I get the chance none with me on this laptop. Be warned though it's getting ready for paint, right now I call it the 'calico porsche'. It's a daily 600 mile a WEEK driver. Mechanicals and reliablilty are the top priorities, so now I am trying to finish the interior and paint.

I LOVE the way a 944 drive's, with the tranny in back engine in front balance is almost perfect. It can do corners like a dream. Just no real power, but I wanted a fun commuter car.

The '77 Vette like I said will be my TGIF I am taking the Vette today car.
