More help on a '69
Didn't want to start another thread but oh well..Looking for more advice on a '69. I've done a lot more research on them and spent quite a while searching for the right one and found this. Like what I see. According to the seller...
1969 350/350hp 4 speed Engine # Match. Color originally Burgandy, repainted Monza Red. All lights fiberobtics headlights/Wiper door work. Car is out of State from me and I had a friend go see it and he said the car checks out well. Wants 18k. Thoughts?

Looks like a sweet ride - - all defer to the experts on this forum to address numbers matching and originality issues - -but from my perspective, I'd say it's worth a second look .
Good luck - -

For a nice clean prepped engine compartment, it's odd the ignition shielding is completely gone and that dime store fuel filter is in place.
It's "Monza" red.
Not a bad price, but it's not a great buy for a color -change, no-air, no PS/PB coupe. Coupes need some options re: price.
Did your friend verify the engine pad numbers? What does the pad look like? How about the rear kick-ups?
It's pretty.

I'm partial to a C3 with gills!! Unless you are looking for a 100% original, totally unmolested C3, this one looks to be in the "drive home today" category. Is the current owner a member of the CF? Why is he selling? As far as the price being fair, it comes down to what it is worth to you to have this car and how much you need to put into it. It is a buyers market. Make him an offer - and if you are Italian - one he can't refuse

Well he already has a 68 and recently bought a 59 so he needs room. Yeah..tough life. Kind of sucks about the lack of power options but shes one of the better ones I've seen in that price range in a while. We'll see.

Very clean. If it runs as good as it looks, then I'd say its a good buy. "Wants 18k" can become "agrees to $16k" when a serious buyer steps in. You're already missing enough items to make this far enough from 100% correct, but for that price its a great driving L-46 coupe.

Sure does look pretty...a very clean, if basic car. No PW, PB, or PS. No AC. But is that tilt steering? And it is 350/350? Don't know what visual indicators there are to confirm that...maybe others can give you some guidance.
Couldn't imagine it looking any cleaner. It probably wouldn't be worth a hard look at that price except for the fact that it appears so pristine...very pretty.
Most important is if YOU think it's worth it. If you can buy it and feel good about it, then it's a good buy. If I was in the market at that price-range and I found this particular car, I'd probably be very intersted...

Other than the 350/350 label on the shifter console he needs to send me a pic of the engine pad. I've driven a few of these, but how much does the lack of PS/PB have on the driveability would some of you say.

The valve covers are from a L 46 350/350 so the engine is probably correct. After market ignition shields can be purchased. Just a pain to put them on. Air injector system missing. Most owners took them off anyway. Hopefully you have the original tops. Seems the radio is not factory though. $18,000 seems fair as a starting price.

is the armrest cover blocking the view of a cracked console?

My understanding is that the console label is easy to swap. I have a 350/370 11:1 (LT-1) console label on mine, but I know it isn't what the car started out as. I'm still trying to finalize exactly what engine I actually have, though...not quite sure yet.
I have manual brakes and don't mind them one bit. Just a little more leg is all, but they feel fine.
I have manual steering and don't like it in the driveway or parking lot, but LOVE it everywhere else. If I ran over an ant on the interstate, I could feel it in the steering wheel. Not in an obtrusive way, mind you...in an informative way. I love it so much that I may have a hard time converting to power steering. Problem is that my wife really wants to drive the car and I KNOW she won't like it one bit. I'll probably convert at some point.

To me non air is a plus as is non power windows.
If its as good as in person as in pics I would go look at it with intentions of buying it after haggling for awhile to see how far you can push the price down, if any at all.

Hi Joe,
I agree, the car looks nice in the pictures and deserves a closer examination.
Did your friend take a GOOD look at the RUST situation?
Are you looking for a car that is orginal beyond the engine/trans stamps? If so, how important is originality to you?
How will you use/show/enjoy the car?
Regards,
Alan

Looks very nice! Just a small observation like others have offered. Looks like the floor pan heat shields are missing as well. Small thing though. Good Luck.
