How long can you leave the break in
Lube on a new cam before first start break in? I'm asking, because after I place the cam in and rotate the crank once to adjust valves. I still need to replace radiator and a few other things like timing chain and so on. Can I leave it for a week? Till my next days off? Thanks

Your fine, everyone else has to do the same thing. That sticky cam lube isn't going anywhere. Some guys build engines while they are still working on the car and they sit for a month or more.

Save some cam lube and put on the bottom of the lifters just before you drop in push rods and intake. As fast as you are from there you will not have a problem. Which oil are you going to use for break in? I used Joe Gibbs BR30 conventional break in oil as recommended by Tracdogg2. I have 220mi. as of Sun. and so far so good. I will change to JG10w-30 conv. when it reaches 250mi. mike...

I have Valvoline VR1 racing oil, also CraneCams super Lube break-in concentrate, and also Zinc-hy-per lube replacement additive. Of course Im not going to use all at one time. The Zinc hy-per replacement is for later oil changes.
