It's the roll out cover in the rear with the single handle that covers goodies in the hatch from view.
I'm trying figure it out, I thought it was a retractable cargo cover but I may be wording it wrong.
Thanks!

Don't quote me, but isn't it the luggage compartment shade?

Safety Car
i believe this to be the proper designation. it was designed to shield the contents in the otherwise fishbowl type glass "hatch" from prying eyes when the cars were used daily and for errands, etc. it's still an effective way to keel the sun from fading your rear area carpeting if you find yourself in a situation of leaving the car in a un-shaded spot for a longer time (like at a show).
