Default Taking Off 68 Coupe T-Top Stainless Surround

Not the frame around the t top but the frame on the roof of the car. Mine is pitted and scared. How difficult is the R & R?

Greg, PM sent.

For those of you who don't know this, this is my old car. Greg painted it a STUNNING blue and is just AWESOME!

Do you mean the windshield corner moldings and the SS windshield reveal molding and also the T-bar SS trim? 68's are different than 69-up. Lou.

I believe so. The t bar center stainless, windshield top corners and the front and rear headers.

Hi 54,
I believe the sequence for removal needs to be:
1. A-pillar weatherstrip retainer and ss trim
2. Long thin piece of ss trim above windshield
3. Large 'I 'shaped piece of ss trim
4. 2 thin chrome plated pieces of cast trim on the 'halo' ledge
5. Windshield header corner chrome plated castings.
It's VERY chancey to remove these corners with the windshield in place.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

The 68 chrome windshield end castings are very different than the 69-76 ones. I had a very hard time replacing mine with a quality pair from trim parts. Also the upper windshield reveal molding has more curve to the ends and I had to reuse my original. The late 68-76 would not fit right. My car is mid production,14,800'ish. The t-bar SS trim is smooth on the 68. 69 up have more of an arch to it in the front and there are 4 screw holes in them. I do not think that a 69-up one will fit right on a 68. I would not recommend trying to change the rear trim.

That's pretty much what I have found with this whole car. Even late 68
pieces don't fit. I've had to rehab every nut and bolt. Part of the attraction of "this" 68. Thanks all for the data
