74 Corvette needs 20a glass fuses near Oshawa ON.
I have a blown fuse in my 74 vette and I drove all over last night trying to find a 20a glass fuse. Anyone have any ideas where I can get them locally?
I know I still may have a wiring issue, but the car came with a blown fuse and I will need some replacements to test my repairs.

If none at CT or The Source, I have picked them up at a local audio installer. The local installer was great (small business not a big store) as he found my ground issue and fixed that for free.

Last night I tried Canadian Tire (Wilson), Futureshop (Harmony), the source (Harmony), The parts Man (Park).
Canadian Tire had a 25a, but I don't want to over load the curcuit.
It is possible that the wilson store just didn't stock it. that has happened before.

Are they really that hard to find in Canada? I can still buy glass fuses at most convenience store/gas stations, hardware stores, Walmart, Radio Shack, Meijer, Autozone, Advance Auto, Napa, etc. Heck, I think my local grocery store still has them in the hardware aisle. The variety packs usually have at least one 20 amp.
If you were my neighbor, you could stop by and I'd give you a handful.

All the stores I went to had tons of variety packs or packs of other sizes...just not the 20a.
Since I a may be diagnosing a problem I want more than one of them.
I'll try Performance Improvements and Princess Auto tonight.

When chasing down a problem I always find it easier to install a blade fuse holder in place of the glass fuse holder. They're much cheaper and easier to find until you fix the problem. Just a thought

The 25A fuse won't cause any issues,if thats what you have to settle on.Chances are you have a dead short in that circuit and whatever fuse you put in will blow immediately anyways.
I'm surprised as well to hear they are hard to find,I never have had an issue finding any in a parts or electronics store...

Thanks Brooklin, I may take you up on your offer for 1, once I fix the problem.
I just went down to Performance Improvements, no fuses at all, but definately a candy store for the vette. I went to partsource and bought a pack of 25's to diagnose the problem.
After reading thru the forum on this issue, I am starting with pulling the stereo and the lighter socket before I even install the first fuse.

25A fuse will not overload the circuit. It will just blow more dramatically.
Hit the audio/electronics stores if you still have issues finding them.
Tons of stuff still use the glass fuses. They're common as pigtrack

Last night I installed a 25a fuse and after about 20 seconds my coutesy lights came on, all except the drivers, after pulling out the bulb and repositioning it, it came on. Problem was getting it back in that bracket was a pita. Who puts a bulb right above the hood release.
It's a good thing heat rises, or that release handle would melt.
I am pretty sure the problem is the lighter itself, at least one of the po's was a heavy smoker. I found match pieces under the console and the ash tray was well used.
Thanks for the help on this one guys. Nobody so far carries 20a fuses, even the stereo shops now use the larger bus fuses for installs.
I'll keep looking, but at least it works for now.

How about a circuit breaker it would also assist in locating the short. They look like this.
