Define "extremely detailed." GM service technicians used the factory service manuals.

The 1960's and early 1970's Chevy manuals included two volumes: 1) Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual...which had details of all the operating systems, electrical and logic diagrams, etc.; and 2) Chevrolet Chassis Overhaul Manual...which gave details of removal, disassembly, rebuilding, and reassembly of the engines, transmissions, rear axles, and all the engine accessories. Sometime in the mid-to-late 1970's, they combined those into one big volume.

These books are indispensible to the dyed-in-the-wool C3 DIY guy/gal.

Hi,
In addition to the GM Chassis Service Manual, I'd also suggest you consider buying the 1977 Assembly Instruction Manual.
The AIM was used on the production in in St. Louis. Quite different information than the CSM and COM, but also priceless!
Regards,
Alan

Below is a link to some useful articles on a variety of subjects:

Then there are the Wiring Diagram and Electrical Troubleshooting manuals. A full set of 77 Corvette factory manuals should be four books: Service, Overhaul, Wiring, Electrical Troubleshooting. Helm should have at least the first two still available.
