I suppose if I really-really needed something more to do, I'd go with the C5 mesh look.

Personally I like the original look on my 75.

I had pictured doing exactly this and now seeing it done I love it. Clean, understated and fairly easy I would think.

I tend to agree with you, but I've always felt like you shouldn't be able to see that plastic inner fender. Just looks "unfinished" to me for some reason. Unaltered is never a bad thing though.

There is a fine line between enhancing a Vette and butchering it. We all can agree that the lines of a Vette (C3) are their single most factor why we love them. You can put a high performance engine in any car, but ah, the lines of a corvette, now that's unique and special. I'm a believer that you can make subtle changes to a Vette without sacrificing its original look. For example, changing the rear deck vents to chrome, the cowl grille to chrome, a stipe on the hood, luggage rack, etc. All these changes I believe enhance the car but don't take away from its original beauty. Proof of this is that my car (with these modifications) has won awards at several car shows.
I like the above red Vette and the fender grille inserts because they don't take anything away form the car. Does anyone know where to get these grilles?

I went back stock with my '70, however they should have chrome on the horizontal edges of the egg crates.

I'm doing a '70 project, and my concept is to do some grinding on the horizontal bars of the "egg-crate" to make them fade into the background and get closer to the look of the '67 style gills. The big question is how much material can I take out without weakening the expensive casting to where it won't hold up to the wear & tear of driving??? Don't know yet; I'll keep you posted...

My personal taste is that every little piece trim, emblem or extra chrome piece distracts from the natural beauty of the C3 lines; so I like to get rid of as much of that noise as possible. adding more chrome & trinkets looks cheap. Just my opinion, though.

C3's came with lots of external stainless and chrome trim and emblems. Personally I lile the look. Unlike later years when everything is blacked out or painted. I will usually not bother looking at a car that has had the trim removed or painted over.

Might as well buy a silk Armani suit and Bedazzle it.

I would stick with original. Most people use the gills as their first means of identifying the year. It just gets a little complicated otherwise.

Rolling Thunder carries it well though. That car is a monster!

Also the red car with the screen is very nice. IMO

Leigh,
Gotta weigh in since this thread has come up again. I like the look of the your 75 look, screens or the Rolling Thunder inserts. The yellow Vette looks like the things were bought in the Walmart auto section and stuck on with double sided tape. Just my opinion brother!!!
