My 49,000 mile original paint 1974 coupe "Corvette Orange Metallic" color.
It is virtually identical to the non metallic shade or Orange for 1977, except the '74 Orange has a real fine golddust metallic in it, whereas the '77 Orange is a "flat" color.

I struggled when it was time to paint mine. Originally it was Ontario Orange but I wanted a little more flash! I started playing with different colors then settled on Tangarine Go Mango.
The best part is the color depending on where you are standing can be Orange, Red brown or anything in between.

I did some searching for Inferno Orange, and came across this. http://www.shop.thecoatingstore.com/...OPM-CARKIT.htm
If it comes close to the GM color, it may be tempting.

Here is Monaco ( Hugger) orange. A fresh repaint on my 69. Still putting it back together. This is PPG BC/CC. Just like other 69 orange and stock reds, some times one looks more like the other at different angles and light conditions.

Love it. The black really offsets the blinding orange. Your car was one of the reasons that I started this thread. I just wish my rubber bumper could pull off the Motion stripe.

...this Flame Orange '75 L-82 roadster was sold here at Carlisle around '91/'92 time frame. I was trying to deal on it but was sold after I left. Couldn't come to an agreement on price. I have talked to the current owner several times since and he's keeping it up great!!! It's still gorgeous!!!
....the '76 Flame Orange coupe in the 2nd pic had paint that was sooooooo perfect, it was absolutely STUNNING!!!
...both beautiful Flame Orange examples!!!

Nothing like Corvette Competition Yellow. In the bright sun, you squint your eyes when staring at the Vette. I shot my 87 this color, now that its gone, my 73 in a body off resto will be shot Competition Yellow. Its stunning

I think this might solve the mystery of what color my 73 is. Its this one!! It was born White, but got a repainted very early in its life. It was non-titled at the Warren GM tech center from Sept 72 until 1981.
