I remember back in High School, seeing a Corvette GT. It had side scoops and a high wing. It might have been a dealer custom.
Has anyone else seen one of these?
I should have looked more into the Forum and I found a picture of what was refered to as a widebody. Were these a regular body kit that could be added on?
The above car is a Motion Phase III GT, built in NY. The car you are refering to is a Greenwood GT built in FL http://www.greenwoodcorvettes.com/Streetcars.html Both companies offered pieces/kits you could DIY. Check out www.makoshark2.com for more info/pix. (Note, these are all widebodies, but not all widebodies are GT's).
I am not a fan of wide bodies, but this looks great from this angle. Does anyone have other angle views.
I am totally digging those tail lights.
is that a widebody? i see the custom rear window and tail lights but the overall body appears to be of stock width. maybe fender flares, i cant really tell. could just be my eyes.
There's a widebody kit '76 running around town here with a for sale sign taped to the tail (for like $18,500 asking.) Generally the Corvette guys around here just laugh at it.

I was thinking the same thing. But the above posts were talking about wide-bodies and then this picture was posted. I google searched the type and some are wide bodies and some are not. So who knows.
GT is not a wide body, though usually had fender flares, but this yellow one looks like it has the factory fender openings, sweet looking even without the flares
There are so many books about Corvettes since they where built, describing every little detail. But i dont know any book about all the aftermarket mods that where offered back then.
All this Ecklers Hatchbacks, Baldwin Motion, Kellison Vettes and so on... that would be really interesting for me.
Generally a custom built vette is what the "non vette" crowd really gets a laugh off of then it pours over to any vette with aftermarket wheels.
Its bad enough when the vega club can snicker at a vette but then when they accuse a custom vette as being a body kit on a Karman Gia is when it really hurts!!!!!
