I wasn't born in 1980, not until 1985. But I have wanted a 1980 original yellow manual since I first saw one. Almost a dream come true when I was 16. Guy sold the car 3 hours before I called after convincing my dad to help me get it. Didn't another chance until I was 26.

Nope, was not me. I am a home boy from Hannibal, mo... nothing left stock on this car except the shifter ball...

I'm a little older now & I own an '11 Challenger R/T (I see yours in the background). Owning this car has rekindled my passion for owning an '80 Vette, so I've started the process of researching & planning the purchase of my dream car. I'm concerned about getting stuck with a money pit, so it'll be a slow process.
Wish me luck!

I fell in love with the 1980 Corvette from the moment I saw it. In 1982, at the age of 12, I went with my uncle to a Chevy dealership when he was considering buying a new Vette. It was white with a red interior & the price was just over $21k. It had the most beautiful curves & flares I'd ever seen (girls included!) & tried to convince him to buy it. Unfortunately, he got an '82 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX.

Thanks for the compliment on the charger. That is my dad's actually. I was not really a fan of how they looked. I am a mustang fan haha. I guess I go sucked into the truly American makers.
A good deal should be around 11K or more. It will depend how much work has actually been done. If the car has been completely restored and looks new, then it will be a couple thousand more. The ones that are 4 and 5K I would stay away from.
Keep in mind, if something does need to be replaced, try to fix yourself before taking it to the shop. It is not your daily driver so if it is out of commission for a month while you try to do it yourself its ok. This site and many online resources should give you the knowledge you need. You just have to be wiling to take the plunge into mechanics.
If you need to talk privately, send me a PM. I am not an expert but I went through this just over a year ago.

ETM: Yep. Dark Claret Metallic- kind of a maroon/red/brown, depending on the light. Not "rare" but only about 8% of the '80s got it. I have the Dark Claret interior as well. Mine's a respray but the original color (unless GM's paint jobs were far worse than I think...) If/when I get it repainted I'll stick with the same color.
