C3 promotional go cart
I just purchased a C3 promotional go cart. It has the C3 body style and the decal in the side says "official pace car". It is painted like the '78 pace car. It has a Briggs /Stranton pull start engine in the rear.
Does anyone have any information? I will post a picture later this week.
Thanks

C3 go cart
I am traveling until Sunday and then I will post pictures.
I bought it at a motorcycle auction
A promotional car was given out by dealerships when you purchased a new '78 pace car
I still need more information. Did Chevy offer this go cart? It looks real but 'who knows'.

From what I remember of the Pace Car go-carts, they were offered to Chevrolet dealers, by Chevrolet. They weren't free, so not every dealer would or did buy them. The dealer could do anything they wanted with them; display them, sell them or even give them away. I think they were made by F.W. & Associates in Ohio.
In 1986, there was also a Corvette Pace Car go-cart offered. The 86 was yellow, just like the Pace Car, and had the Pace Car decals on it's side. I have an 86 Pace Body, but no chassis. I can post up a picture of it if you'd like.
It looks like your Pace Car has been repainted or restored. Originally, they had a 78 25th Anniversary logo decal, on the front fender. It was located just forward of the Pace Car decals. They also came with white wheels. There were no nose or gas door emblems on them either, while your's has 75-76 Corvette emblems on it. The rear emblem on your car is a rear bumper letter kit for a 91-96 Corvette.
Here's a link to a picture of one with it's original paint and decals, or what's left of them anyway. A Google search of Corvette Pace CAr go-cart, may turn up more pictures.

Enjoy your new Corvette!

Safety Car
I've found an orange Sunkist promo 80-82 cart, and a 95 pace car cart in the past several years. Both have Briggs engines and run/drive well. I justify having them by rationalizing that the grand kids want to come and drive them.

Funny thing. I was just over in the Diecasts & Collectibles Section of the Forum, and came across this posting from earlier today.

The go-cart in the link is not done up as a Pace Car, but I believe it is the same go-cart otherwise. There's a very go picture of the F.W. & Assoc. logo on the rear of the cart.
Besides the Pace Car that was available to Chevrolet dealers, they sold regular versions of the 78, as well as a 63 Corvette. My Corvette club in 78, raffled off one of the 63's at our annual show. One of the members drove out to Ohio to pick it up.
