Default Emblem removal

How do I remove the C3 emblem off of my 1980 Corvette on the nose? I'm prepping it for paint and that emblem needs to come off.

Buy a roll of pre-waxed dental floss. Cut a 12-16" length and tie the ends around a couple of short wooden dowels. Then use the dental floss as a sort of 'saw' to cut through the tape/adhesive behind the emblem. The dental floss won't damage the paint, if you have cleaned all possible debris from the area and around the emblem beforehand. You may need to replace the floss a few times, until you get the hang of it.

So the Emblem isn't bolted on in anyway? And what do I use to reattach it with so it can stay?

Pretty sure the emblems went to double faced tape in the mid 70's, and still are to this date. The fishing line works, but use an infrared heat lamp from a bathroom fixture myself. Either way, there's gonna be some residue on the car's paint surface, and need some paint thinner for this. You can buy some 3M doulble faced tape from the auto parts to put it back on.

Doesn't matter since I'm going to sand it down anyway.

Coming late to the party, but for future reference, the floss, heat gun, and 3M Adhesive Remover (won't hurt the paint) worked well for me.

Warmed up the area with the heat gun, then put some 3M on the emblem and working back and forth, alternating between the floss and 3M, the emblems came right off w/ NO damage to the paint, other than stripping the wax.

I bought the 3M stuff from Mid America, initially, but later found it on the shelf at my local auto parts store.

That one bolts in to the bumper cover. 2 small studs. Reach up behind the cover and you can get at them.
