I just realized that you are preparing the garage as though it was preparing for your new child coming home from the hospital. I did that for each of our children, prepared their room that is. Charlie Boy Toy coming home soon, and he will have a nice place to live for sure.
Good job Chuck.

Well l made a trip to Detroit and back this morning for a set of staggered rally wheels. 8s on the back and 7s up from just don't work with the flares, but they will serve their purpose well until the car is ready for the vectors to go back on. I got them installed on the car and rolled out out of the garage and took the air hose to it and blew out all the nooks and crannies I could find. Got some leaves, dirt and random debris cleared out. Also sprayed out every hole in the frame I could find, had a small amount of rust come out but not bad at all.
New shoes ready for the ride home
The car sitting on the new wheels. Definitely needs wider ones when done.
Sitting pretty waiting for next weekend.
Much cleaner
Bonus picture. Do you think my headers are still usable?

Looking good! BTW I think you should save the headers. They came off the car, have a ton of racing history and they will make terrific garage wall art (and keep the good memories fresh too). Just my two cents.

Got the floor done. My first epoxy kit set up too fast and I couldn't get the whole floor done in time so I had to buy another one at $70 to finish the job and only needed a third of the can, oh well.

Thanks guys! I got out to the garage to hang some stuff on the walls tonight. I have some pictures of my dad's old dune buggies to print off and frame to go along with the old signs. It's a good start though.

Awesome. I admire your ambition. Keep it up.
BTW, if you need some side mount headers when time comes, I somehow have accumulated a few extra sets. Appropriately used for the correct patina.

I'll keep you in mind. I've actually got a set of chrome hooker headers on the drag car project that I'm most likely going to appropriate for Charlie's Toy. The only issue they have is the side pipes are shortened way down so I would have to get longer side pipes.

Finally bagged and boxed up all the parts and hardware I removed from the car so far. I also finally put away all the tools I've had out of the tool box the last couple of months. I was also able to break the seat belt bolts loose other than one and get them removed. The last one was so froze u and partially rounded off I just ended up grinding off the head and drilling out the rivets holding the cage bold on. It was rusted out pretty bad so that will get replaced if I put traditional seat belts back in. After all that was down I blew out all the nooks and crannies again and got the heating system pretty well, lots of leaves I missed last time are now out of the car.
We're pretty much ready to rock and roll David.

Can't wait. Safe travels.
So I got over tonight and managed to get the rest of the dash out of the car to check the wiring and the birdcage. I am extremely happy with the condition of the birdcage. The worst seems to be the little surface today behind the steering and some on the upper windshield frame.

Here's a quick cure for all those tight spots that are rusty.......and any other rust! Buy Playground sifted sand from Lowes or WalMart.

I'll have to keep that in mind. Though my home compressor is too small for that and we have sand blasting stuff at the big garage. I'm most likely going to take a wire brush to it since that's handy at my house. Then coat it in an anti rust paint.

Met AllC34Me (David) today to move the car over to my house. He was a great guy to work with.
His trailer is designed great to transport cars. He pretty much had the car loaded himself in just a few minutes.
Getting ready to unload it into my garage.
Sitting in its new home.
At this point David had to head out. I can't thank him enough for transporting the car to my house.
After he left I rolled the car out into my driveway to wash off years of dirt.
Washed off and looking better.
Sitting back in the garage.
