You are correct on that. Back in the day you could buy that brace from GM and a lot of us added it. I did that on my 65. You had to modify the fiberglass tub for clearance, so that is a dead giveaway for the upgrade.

Hey Chad, they added that brace in 69 and on. Check where the #3 rail meets the frame. That is a spot where a lot can happen with rust and lose of frame. Not telling you what to do just some tips..
R

As you can see on mine that it had to be repaired and took me a long time to fabricate just how to do it. I also added new gussets and cage nuts to the frame. Hopefully that will not be necessary. Good Luck!

A poll on here recently found out that the extra brace was added in early April 1968, I think.
I also remember reading that GM would only make three runs a year for the Harrison expansion tank. My 68 has a 68 C, for March build date. Lou.

That's great stuff. One detail,
Early 1965 - Indent added into the engine crossmember to clear larger pulleys

More specifically I believe that was for the big block engines.

Good to know

Well I haven't done much on the last week. I bought a work bench and put it into my office at home so I have a place to tear parts apart, clean and rebuild them.

Scott at Detroit Vintage Wheels finished my wheels a couple weeks ago. I haven't been able to get out there to pick them up yet due to plans or poor weather but I'm hoping to get out there tonight or tomorrow.

I haven't been over to the garage yet since you asked. That's the bad part about being 25 min from your project, and I'm getting sick of the commute to work on the car lol. My tiny one car garage isn't suited to do much of anything in unfortunately. I will check on the date code this weekend.

Oh and it's Chuck btw

Why do "all" wives have to act that way?

Hey Chuck, looks like the wheels came out great. What a difference, man. They look brand new. Detroit Vintage did a nice job. Well worth the wait.

Hey rvizio, I'm slow. Got out to the garage after work to grab the expansion tank date code for you. Looks like it's 68G, looks like that is July of '68 which matches the car perfectly.
