At the moment I'm not planning on using the stock seatbelt brackets, I'm planning on going with a 5 point set up, but haven't figured out the exact set up yet. The stock brackets will be in place in case I ever swap back to a stock style seat belt.

I tried having the wife hold the backer hammer for setting the rivets, but they didn't turn out too great. And she complained the whole 5 minutes lol. I'll have to have a friend come out that can handle the job a little better. I need to knock out the reinforcements and bedliner the underside pretty soon. I'd like to get the frame back on soon.
Hey Chuck, yea those rivets can be tough if you don't have the person holding the buck strong enough. Snip the rivets so they are not to long for some of the location. Good luck!

I'm half ginger, I can get a sunburn in a cave lol. That said, I passed out on the boat for an hour or so, so I should look like a tomato later this week.

No sir, not until I get back home later today. I'm currently in Triumph motorcycle territory. The father in law has 3 up here at the lake including 2 vintage ones.

Thanks David! It was a much needed couple of days away, but I got right back to work on the 68 when I got home this evening. The wife and I were able to get the seat mounting brackets and the seatbelt reinforcement brackets in place. I need to figure out my schedule for dropping the body back down onto the frame.

The rivets turned out looking pretty decent for our first time doing this.

Default Rivets

Nice job on the rivets. Not to hard a job other then where GM decided to put them. Twisting and turning to get in the right position was half the battle.

Looking good Chuck! Did you buy the $40 rivet tool? Too bad you had to hire someone to replace the wife!

Yeah the ones in the trans tunnel weren't put in...My air hammer would not allow it. And since I'm mostly sure that I won't even be using those belt mounting points I'm not too concerned.

It's only a problem when you are patching the patches patched patch right?

$45 for a tool to set a couple dozen rivets...yeah.

I was able to bribe the wife to run the air hammer portion of the job. She wasn't a big fan of working under the car, but it worked out. There are still a couple rivets to do on the outer reinforcement while the body is hanging in the air off of the cribbing support frame. That should be fun.

All good.

We'll today was a busy one. I took the day off work because it was gonna be one of the last days I could steal the father in law for manual labor. My sister in law closes on her first house on Monday and my father in law will be occupied with her housing projects for awhile. We managed to rip out some rotten fascia boards around my house, replace them, install 6in metal fascia instead of the previous 2in drip edge (that should prevent any future rotted fascia boards), reinstall the gutters, replace 2 motion flood lights in the back yard and install a new 20 amp breaker and wire in my 60g air compressor that has been sitting in the corner for more than a year.

Quite a busy day for us. I had to work at my side gig for 2 and a half hours, but afterwards man the sand was flying in the sandblasting cabinets! all the steering wheel mounting brackets are blasted and all but half of one of the bumper reinforcements are blasted. I'm whipped.

Nicely done Chuck.

Side note: July 8th Tammy and I will be attending the Western Michigan Cars and Coffee in Caledonia, SE of Grand Rapids. It is just a couple of hour event but I think we will drive down there from Muskegon to say hi in the '17. Might be fun. FYI.

Will be fun when we can get the Road Racer and Charlies Toy sitting beside one another one day.

I'm not positive the '73 is up for the 2.5hr round trip drive up there yet, but we will see. I may have to just shine up the G8 and meet up there. I do have a family reunion around that date, checking to see exactly when that is, will let you know.

Edit: Scratch that, the reunion is on the same date. I won't be able to make it to GR.

If you and your bride happen to be passing by the Mason area let me know, I do believe I still owe you guys dinner for the initial moving of the Toy over to my garage for me.
