Looking good.

I am interested at seeing your interior with the black carpet.

I also am redoing my interior and considering putting in black carpet with everything else being the saddle ( beige ) color. Please post pics when you get your carpet in.

Thanks,

I did not think about that...I'll continue running the external tank. Hoping when the engine is all done it will more or less look like a slightly modified stock L88 engine compartment.

Will do. I think it will look great playing off all the black in the dash and center console.

So I spent a decent portion of today wrestling the newly refurbished core support into place. Quite the task to deal with single handedly. After I got it into it's final spot it dawned on me that this nice core support that I just spent a day wire brushing and rustproofing inside and out was in fact a core support for a small block car...

I hadn't noticed the slight difference when I grabbed it from my dad's parts stash. Only when it was installed in the car and I was thinking about how good that new Dewitts radiator will look did I realize the radiator support is in the wrong spot.

That dumb bracket needs to be 1.5in to the right in this picture.

I'm curious if it would be possible to run it as is knowing the supports are off slightly. Probably not a good idea. Looks like I need to order a new bottom support for my old core support and have it welded on and clean up that core support for use.

Chuck,
I have a 68 core support here that was given to me by Tyrant (Eric) some time back. I am not sure if it is big block or small block but you give me those dimensions (what you have, and what you need) and I will measure this one up and see if it will work for you.

David, I appreciate the offer to check yours. If it is a '68 core support it won't work for what I'm doing unfortunately. Mine was swapped out to the '69-72 big block radiator setup. Thankfully, mine that came out of the car is still solid, just one rusted bottom support that is easily replaceable. replacing that and a day with a wire brush and a can of rust encapsulator and it should be good to go back into the car.

Let me know what you do with that junky won't work on a BB core support. Might find somebody that has a puny worthless SB that could put it to use!

You gonna run a 69-72 small block radiator in the Giddy Up and Go? If you are running a 68 radiator that support won't work. If you are interested we can talk, but shipping will be a little pricey...might try and sell that one locally.

Whelp...Roger painted his car black today. I wire brushed my big block radiator support and coated the outside in black rust encapsulator. I guess that'll work for me for now lol. I need to pick up more internal rust encapsulator to coat the inside and have a support welded on before it goes in the car.

This one had some significant scaling knocked out of it. Pretty well expected from sitting out so long, but it should be fine for a couple years or so. I figured out the other day that I forgot the headlight harness when I ordered all my wiring a couple years ago. That was an unexpected $300 bill coming up.

Waiting on Eastwood internal frame coating to come in for the radiator core support, waiting for a big order to come in from Paragon that has the missing bracket for the radiator support and most of all...waiting on my engine and tranny to be finished at the shop. Supposedly they will be wrapped up this week. I'm living in the land of waiting right now.

No kidding right. Most of the Paragon order is shipping out tomorrow, they were waiting for my headlight harness to come in. One part won't be in until late march... Good news is that is just a hose for the radiator to the overflow and I don't think the engine will be run before then.

I really need to get my motion side vents while the motor and all that stuff is out, but I don't feel like being itchy for days. And the garage is cold as heck right now.

A 68 radiator support is totally different than the larger opening 69-82 radiator support. They are different because there were cooling issues with the 68's and they needed a larger radiator in the cars. The 68 radiator is a carry over design of the 63-67 radiator support, basically made of four metal plates. They had to engineer a new radiator support to have wider radiators in the car. The company I worked for made all of the 1960-1982 Corvette radiator supports. Lou.

Yeah my car had already been converted over to the '69-72 style larger radiator at some point in the past. The frame had to be modified to fit the radiator. I'm sure dad had done this at some point during his racing days to help cool the L88 engine better.

Most of my order came in yesterday, earlier than I expected it to get to me. The old radiator support was coated with internal rust coating and I'm waiting for a good opportunity to bring it to a friend to have the new bottom support welded on.

I also started getting the headlight harness installed last night. I had quite a difficult time getting the forward harnesses bolted to the fuse box on the inside of the car. The retention nut(or whatever it's called) decided to drop out of the fuse box so I had to deal with that. It's finally all fixed up now and the harnesses are roughly where they should be. A couple of the harness mounts do not line up where they should on the header bar though, so I will either move the clips on the harness or drill new holes in the header bar.

Default Vette

Another Christmas for Chuck. Man so lucky to be near Paragon. I was wondering if their bone yard that they show in the catalog is also near you.

They are located a bit over an hour from me and the boneyard is at the same location. I usually drive up there for my parts but they aren't open on Saturdays in the winter. They have a lot in the boneyard to pick through, but it isn't very big. If you are after anything in particular it's always best to give them a call and see if they have it.

Looks good Chuck. Like the radiator and the fan setup. Rubber seal around the core support. Your moving along, that's great!
