I'm thinking of changing to this size tyre when the 60 series ones currently fitted need replacing but not sure what they will look like. A pic would be much appreciated

Why go to a tire that is narrower ?
Not sure if you checked different tire sizes with a calculator but here is one if you want to use it.

Hi,
I too like the look of the 225-70 tire.
It's just a little wider than the original and does SUCH a good job of filling the wheel well and the arched opening!
Nice looking tires on great looking cars!!!
Regards,
Alan
The 60 and 50 series tires look really good on some cars, but the 70 series series tires are right for some cars too.

Steve is correct in a sense as that is what tire sites such as Tire Rack state for the 225s. But in that it was used extensively by C3s you have to ask where these sites got their info.

This doesn’t need to be a pissing match; it’s a simple question, why are you exceeding the tire manufacturers’ recommendation?

I don't care what you have on your car smart guy, what I do care about is what the TIRE MAUNFACTURER states is the MAX RIM WIDTH! Take the BF GOODRICH T/A 225/70/15 which is a popular choice, BF GOODRICH says the max rim width is 7.5”.

225/70/15 is the STANDARD tire size for 15x8 rims from the factory.
I'm not running BFG's.
