Default Show me your "back compartment" Radio installs please

I will try again today to get my OEM radio back in. I’ve been having a problem getting the radio and center instrument bezel up far enough to get the console in. The shifter in this position will not go into PARK.

I think the problem has been the set of vacuum lines which run (just) under the radio. I put new ones in and probably don’t have them exactly placed like the originals were. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working on the dash and dash related stuff

knows there isn’t a ¼ “of spare room to work with in this area. I’m embarrassed to mention the actual # of hours I have been trying to get this console job done, so I won’t. If I make no progress today, I think I will just put a delete plate on that I made up yesterday

and do an install of a modern radio in the back storage area. Anyone have any photos for me. Thanks

the radio bezel was already cut up in my '76 when i got it so i just put in a new aftermarket radio. i have a sub and two 6x9 speakers and amp in the rear compartment. i really can't hear the rear speakers much b/c of road noise, etc. i recommend sound proofing your car to make your sound system efficient. i may take out the sub b/c i could not get a big enough box back there to make it sound good. tight fit.
maybe you could find another radio bezel and cut it up to fit a radio and save your original.
good luck.

Homemade plywood box wrapped in vinyl, input jack extension runs under the carpet and comes out in the ashtray, powered FM antenna attached to back of the box, controlled by wireless remote.

I put a couple of led arrays under the window since the box covers the light.
