Default rear strut

I'm rebuilding the rear suspension on my 1975 and decided to go with the poly adjustable struts from Willcox (x2464) instead for the the original style ones. Both of my struts had a Bow in them. I thought this would make it easier for the Mechanic the adjust the camber when i get my alignment and it would keep a better alignment. Mistake or Upgrade?

Mistake. Poly is the worst possible choice here. Adjustable vs. solid will always cause a fight, I see no advantage to adjustable.

Does "decided" mean you've already purchased the poly?

Poly should have some flexibility and much better than stock Rubber. And the adjustable strut should be better than the Cam bolts. Has anyone tried them???

I have the poly adj rods they have been fine .install was easy .have not had any sqeeks .the new rods made a big difference on handling because the old ones were so bad .I hope the poly last longer than the rubber .

Adjustable strut rods are an excellent choice on your part.

Poly is excellent to. They're maintenance free for many, many years. Good job.

No, nobody has any real world experience and we just write this stuff for kicks.

How often do you intend to set your rear camber with your adjustable strut rods?

FWIW, I installed poly bushings in OE strut rods on a C-3 quite some time ago. I had no issues.....

If one only are planning on using the car for cruising, coffie and icecream trips i would say that one most likely will only adjust the strut rods once.

However i like to take my car to the track every now and then so have tried a number of different settings on my struts and wouldnt change back to non adjustable.

But for normal street use and a burnout every now and then i think the original type will du just fine.

Same here. I installed mine over 3 years ago and immediately had it aligned. Never heard any noises from them, and I check them occasionally to ensure they haven't loosened. Over 15k miles on them and they've been maintenance free.

Here is what you have to check with poly bushings. I used them in my stock struts in 1988 and I removed them and checked them this January. They wear out the hole inside, which I did not feel any difference in. I put new poly's in, because they install without a press. I had noticed the gap on the differential end of the strut rods, where they wore more than the outer side. Hope this helps. Lou.
