Humidity is an issue. I've bought used Corvettes from salvage yards across the US. I prefer, all in all, J&D Corvette in Bellflower, Ca. It's a crap shoot. There's a little bit of helpful probability that one of their cars has lived in a dry, humid free California/Arizona environment. That's not to say that one of their salvage cars, and parts, was a rust bucket, driven to So Cal and ultimately sold into their inventory.
All of this just means why it's so much fun to restore a Corvette. If all the parts were of perfect quality and fit, and at a reasonable price, it just wouldn't be any fun or challenge at all.
Hoist your wine glasses.
LIft your glass to Corvette repro parts that fit that are of poor quality...
Lift your glass to Corvette repro parts that are of good quality but dont' fit.
Hoist your glass to Corvette repor parts that are of poor quality and don't fit.
The above three items mean that restoring your Corvette is not booring.
