I saw that also,, only a couple hrs. away from me. I gave " Piggy " a shake, but since I bought my '76 a month ago, it seems I'm a few cents short...I'LL have to pass.

Silly.

It's a 40+ year old Chevrolet. That's an awful lot of money to ask for something that's just going to be a garage queen.

That's the trouble with a car like that. You can never enjoy it the way it was meant to be - driven hard and fast. And listening to the clatter of that solid lifter engine. Enough to give you a woody.

That's what I don't understand. I don't see anything particularly special about the car other than it's got a decent (for back then)horsepower small block in it. The rest of it is just ill-handling, rough riding 50 year old suspension and brake technology.

It's a $25k car in my opinion.

It's a collector "thing" now......not many people could afford to drive it hard and risk wrecking it.

I want a 65. FI coupe , but , I would be really scared to drive it in traffic or leave it unattended while I'm out and about. Just could never leave it sitting in the garage , no way, I'd drive it like I stole it, If I could get one for 50 grand , then I'd drive it a lot........but just not willing to dump 100k into a car Ia can not afford to wreck or have stolen .

So......I 'll keep my 74 and enjoy it , and not worry about leaving it in the grocery store parking lot or in front of Denny's restaurant. it has a 30 year old paint job....the Zr1 would be too nervous about paint to take it anywhere , a gravel might be flung off a truck tire and knock a huge chip in the paint somewhere.

its rare, only 8 built, that's pretty darn rare. a 1953 went for over $1Million recently.. by todays standards it was a dinosaur, but its an investment..by people who would not ever drive it. it was probably worth half that 20 years ago, 1/2 mil is pretty good return on your money.

If you had a ZR-1 you wanted to sell, would you fool with Craig's List?

I think you sell your '74 short. If you get in an accident with your car does the bodyshop charge you less to repair 1974 fiberglass than it would for 1970 fiberglass? Is a '74 frame cheaper to repair or straighten than a '70 frame? Blow up the rear end of your car, and I bet the shop charges you the same as if it were a '70.

I just don't understand the collector car mindset. Why pay six digit prices for something that would get its butt kicked by most any $12,000 C4 at any autocross or track day? I was at a track day a couple weeks ago and mixed it up with some six digit Ferraris. I had a lot of respect for those guys. They weren't posers. They actually drove their cars. And I respect you for driving your '74.

Look up Rule of 72, and get back to me on whether that was such a great investment.

rule of 72 is about doubling your investment, ..well , lets see, current interest on CD s is about 1.25%...you do the math to see how many years[ decades and decades] it will take to double that $1 Million .. and you can t take your money to car shows, or invite people over to see it, or drive it, or rent it to a Movie company , or take it to the National Corvette Museum, etc.. .. now you could put it in the Stock Market, but, theres been many a wise man bankrupted by that. its all a personal choice,or opinion.. you don't think its worth more than $25K... I do. no big deal

you'd think for that kind of money and for that "rare" of a car with a complete resto they would at least put the ignition shielding back on.

You could not get a factory radio with the ZR-1 package. Hence, no shielding.

correct..◾radio delete (no fenders drilled for antenna). The ZR-1 package could not be ordered with any creature comforts, ie: air conditioning, power windows, power steering, radio, alarm system, rear window defroster, or special trim items like P02 wheel covers....it was a street legal race car

Beauty but until I win a lottery, I can't afford to have this gem just sitting around, getting dusty. It does make for a classic garage queen now.

AND I do appreciate the color package...

Hi,
It's a great looking car.
To me the price seems too low!? No mention of documentation!? Maybe "don't ask-don't tell'?
Regards,
Alan
