Default Restoring 76. replacing windshield frame

Just wondered if anyone else has encountered this. My husband and I have been restoring a 76. We replaced the windshield frame, the header and two pillar sides because of some minor rust. Bottom frame was clean. We have thoroughly checked the rest of the frame and found no rust. (Car was oiled to death before storage). We bought new pillar and header trim to replace the old, from Corvette depot. But the pillar trims don't seem to fit quite right. There is some frame showing closest to the windshield. Is this right? I can't remember what it looked like before we removed the old ones, and I threw them out. I hope I am explaining this so you can understand. he new trim just doesnt seem to cover the entire frame.
