Original 1969 Block - 427/400 hp - on Craigslist - still has original stamp but I can't read the VIN sequence. Dated October 1969. The ad and URL are below. I have no relation to the owner of this ad, just passing along.

------------------------------------------------------
This is a 1969 Corvette 427 3963512 block recently pressure tested with no issues by a local speed shop. The suffix code (still on the pad is LQ) 427 400 HP Manual Transmission. I will provide documentation of the testing upon payment of the block. The date code is J 28 9 (October 28th) 1969

I have an 1968 L79 motor in my 1969 Camaro. Partial VIN = 18S415780.

I think the full VIN would be either 194378S415780 or 194687S415780.

This is a March build motor. Here are some more details:

Engine Code = V0325HT (March 25, HT = Vette)
Engine Block Casting - 3914678 (300 & 350 HP, 2 Bolt Main)
Cylinder Head Casting - 3917291 / C 19 8 (Mar. 19, 68) (means 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust (late production) 63.305 cc)

would it be easier to break this up by each year?

What we are going to do to start with is start a thread up in the Sticky area to allow members with documents and parts with VIN numbers to match those up with current owners of the car they belong to. Please note that this is NOT a place to list "Items Wanted." This section will a place where people who have items with VINs and are looking for the cars to match them to.

This thread is for people who have VIN marked items they would like to see get matched up with the cars they go to. Please do not post items, cars, info etc wanted here. That can go in the General or Parts section. Thanks.

I dont think so, there's only 2 pages of posts and some arent even for the items. There's a thread in the C1/C2 section and a thread in the C3 section. I think thats plenty.

FYI:

User jkg2101 made a seperate thread for this in C3 General, so Im posting this here for him. Contact him with info.

--------------------------------------------
Help me find this engine's original car!

I have a corvette that has the wrong engine. The block is a 454, casting 3963512, and the heads are 3964290. The engine stamping shows:
T0312CZU 70S407550

I am pretty sure that all means it is a 390hp 454 (manual trans) from someone's 1970 corvette. The serial number should end in 407550.

I would like to find that car's current owner, because maybe they want this engine back! I recognize that, the fact that I have this engine, means the original car might not still be on the planet.

Have a replacement Protect-0-Plate (replacement due to still being under warranty when I purchased it) , and an "Application For Transfer of Warranty" document for a 1970 Corvette coupe VIN 194370S401460.

Free to whom ever needs them (I need proof of current ownership).

Send a PM.

I picked up on this as I thought it was a great idea years ago, and others did too.

Administration tells me if this gets busy, they will look at opening a complete section dedicated to Orphan items of all generations. As of today, I am opening these sections in C1/2 and C3 forums.

Thanks very much and please participate if you would like. Feel free to comment or ask questions as well.

So, if you have documents pertaining to a C3 Corvette that has a VIN, or original parts with VINs stamped on them and you would like to use this forum to try to reunite them with the owners, please post your information here. All arrangements, payment, and whatever related details are involved will be a private issue between the parties. (Of course we would LOVE to hear any success stories that result!)

Original 69 L68 - with Vin.

NOTE: Added text from Gardner, MA Craigslist (Worcester) as it will disappear when the ad drops:

I have a 427 tripower motor out of a 1969 corvette.this motor is like bran new on the inside however it does need some paint for the outside. The motor does not have original intake or carbs. It has an aftermarket 4 barrel intake. Best offer gets it. I know what I have and I have had the numbers checked multiple times and it comes back the same everytime. Heads do match the block.

Default 1969 400HP 3x2 block and c/shaft Ser. 12707

1969 400HP 3x2 block and c/shaft Ser. 12707 Casting no.512

I have had this for 15 years. I was not aware there might be a platform with which to find an original/current owner. I was told it is STD bore but I really do not know. I am in Canada and the car likely was as well. But hopefully....
