I should be good with this clearance.
Did you position your engine forward from the stock position? What mount adapters and how thick are they? Looks like we both are about the same.

Yes that's a different pulley then your other picture. Yes it appears we are in the same position. I believe I got my adapter plates from speedway motors

Didn't catch the other pulley in the first photo!
I had two pulleys, tried the biggest first but it was a bit too close. As you have, 5 inch will work for me.

Original super t10.
will probably catch flack for not going 5 or 6 speed, but I have no plans of road tripping. Just a two lane cruiser with 3:55 rear.

Last Night I decided to make the Fan wiring. I used 2 cube relays with simple wiring. I have attached the wiring schamitc. The trigger just grounds out the 85 connector. Mine is set to start Fan1 at 182 and Fan 2 at 192. I will see if this works or adjust the settings later. If the AC is turned on both fans will be triggered. On my system its triggered from the ECM but could do the same with sending units and AC control switch.

I actually use the GM ones that they used on the 1990 to 1996 Corvettes where the connectors can clip into each other and have a row or bank of five or six or how many you want in a row, And those GM connectors allow you to secure it to something solid.

Hey Tim and Jeff

Just wondered did you cut down the Prop shaft for the engines to sit back that far?

Mystic Pete,
I can't speak for Tim but my driveshaft actually has to be lengthen. My engine is 11/16" forward of the stock location measured from the bell housing face. I have a four speed and Tim's is a auto.

Another thing I was checking to insure I had no reaction from using slick sand as the primer against the HOK paint. It all worked out and I have my measurements down so I can mix 1 gal. I sure hope 1 gal is going to be enough. Any thoughts on coverage from form members that do a lot of painting?

Tim, I just went thru this whole thread. I bought a 1980 project last week and can't wait to get started. Someone mentioned hero. Awesome work. I'm not doing a frame off but you are an inspiration and my new hero too.

Thanks Airtime, I'm no hero, I also have been inspired by some of the oldtimers on this forum. A lot of great people here... Good luck on your 1980! Keep us posted with lots of pictures....

Thanks guys, wow I'm really quite surprised by your answers, on my 1980 the LSx with 4L60E sits much further forward than I would want again, it meant I had limited space for Air boxes/filters and so had to manufacture my own + I could not leave the alternator in the stock location due to the cross bar. Theres heaps of room between the tunnel and back of the engine also so if I did it again I wold def. cut the prop down and move the tranny mount further back.

Great work guys and even though I've finished my body off resto there's always something to redo, renew or adapt! the Perpetual money pit
